asylee— in the United States, an alien who receives asylum, meeting the legal definition of an individual who is unable or unwilling to return to his or her home country due to a fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationali- ty, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. asylum— protection granted by a government to a refugee from another country. authoritarian— favoring blind submission to authority. capitalism— an economic system that permits the ownership of private property, allows individuals and companies to compete for their own economic gain, and generally lets free market forces determine the price of goods and services. communism— a political and economic system that champi- ons the elimination of private property and common own- ership of goods, for the benefit of all members of society. deportation— the formal removal of an alien after he or she has broken immigration laws. ideology— a systematic set of principles and goals. indoctrination— instruction in the basic principles of a polit- ical party or other organization.
