Kern Medical Emergency Preparedness

 Network Printers • Use secure printing feature for confidential or sensitive documents • Be mindful of the printer you are selective; PHI has been seen on other printers  Personal Printers • PHI Data should be placed in a folder after the print job is completed. Also, hard copies destroyed via shredder  Scanners • Take head to what is being scanned and make sure that the attachments are saved to a File Folder, not on the personal machine .  Internet connection • All internet is for staff to conduct business ventures. • Streaming services are strictly prohibited, Netflix, Pandora, Iheart Radio, and others  Wi-Fi networks • Guest Wifi is for guest of KMHA not for hospital business • Maintain the stability of the network, keep personal devices off the KMHA WI-FI, aside from the Guest wifi during breaks and lunch.  Credit card readers • Inspect CC Readers for RFID scanners, check for device tampering with. • Make sure to hand the CC back to the user after the transaction. • Be helpful and mindful of trafficking staff and patrons behind the CC user.  Security systems • Be aware of physical systems, security issues for physical can be described as “stolen laptops”  Medical c re devices  BioMed Devices are connected all the time to monitor software. Keep caution with unauthorized tampering with Bio Med devices. Internet Connection  Fiber Full Connection • Fiber Connections is always “ON” and exposed to threats at all time, internal and external threats. (Including Facebook and Youtube) • Intrusion Detections Systems “Will be” installed and monitored and control network traffic between KMHA networks internal and public internet. Also, Acts as a firewall for digital devices and larger networks (Wide Area Networks). • Computer Software: updates are automatic and will be applied to machines local and abroad on a monthly cycle. Workstations will reboot to apply machines update after hours to reduce work load. Allowing for Software Vulnerabilities to patched to keep systems safe. Wi-Fi Access  Access Point Devices(s ) acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot connecting multiple devices to form a network.  Network Wi-Fi Access: Password protected, Passwords will change quarterly  Guest Wi-Fi: is not password protected, Should not be used to conduct hospital business. For Patrons, Guests, vendors as well.  Wireless access: set so that it does not broadcast SSID (Service Set Identifier) Hidden SSID,
