Meet Your Neighbor: Samuel Davis By Pam Teel

Sam was an educator before he retired two years ago. He taught Science at Trenton High School for 36 years; the very same high school he graduated from. As a science teacher he also had the privilege of teaching many children with special needs and even during the summer months he taught special needs children swimming lessons. He always felt teaching special needs children to be very rewarding. Just recently he went back to Mer- cer Elementary School; a special needs school, in Hamilton Township, and spoke to children from the third grade through the eighth grade. He was so impressed at how well behaved and attentive the children were and more impressed by the wonderful intelligent questions he received from them.

On any given day Sam makes George Washington come to life again. Whether he’s lecturing in a school or a library, in front of a classroom of chil- dren or veterans, or at a historic site, Sam is one of the best George Washington impersonators in the greater Philly area. He’s been on a horse since he was five years old and since childhood he has had a lifelong love for the American Revolution and for America. Sam is a true Patriot who loves to bring George back from the grave to anyone who is willing to listen to him spew out Washington’s history and his pivotal role in the shaping of America. Sam has been portraying George Washington for over ten years now. A freemason for 35 years, Sam is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Sam, his wife and daughter currently reside in Chesterfield. As a motivational speaker, he loves to enlighten audiences with the vast knowledge he has of George Wash- ington; knowledge such as Washington’s leadership skills, character, and quality of life, the Battles of Trenton and Princeton, and the Battles of NY and the orderly retreat through NJ, covering many different areas throughout the state. Sam has performed at the David Library for DAR, the Valley Forge National Park, the Bordentown Historical Society, Washington Crossing Park NJ, the Thomas Paine Society, the Chesterfield Elementary school, and the Sayen Elementary School, to name a few. With a commanding voice he inspires those in his hold like George Washington once did his troops. He not only brings entertainment to the audience but true history.
