Where We Celebrate You!

Leasing Mistakes to Avoid By Lauren Kolicki

1. Paying too much money upfront What if something were to happen to the car in the first few months? It is suggested to put a small amount, if not nothing, down at all. This, of course, would raise the monthly payment, but if something were to happen the company does not have a large portion of your money. 2. Only looking at the monthly payment

Most people’s concern is how much money they are paying per month. By looking only this number, you could be hit with additional fees here and there. By negotiating the full price, you are more likely to end up paying less per month. 3. Forgetting gap insurance Gap insurance is what covers the gap between the amount they owe on their car and the car's actual cash value in the event of an accident. Some leases include this factor but it is always important to check to avoid having to pay out of pocket in case of an accident 4. Underestimating miles you’ve driven Car dealership can advertise lowmonthly payments because of their lowmileage limits. If a driver surpasses their maximummileage, they are responsible for paying per mile at the end of the lease. This can become quite costly if not careful. Be sure to check the maximum mileage and arrange a higher distance if needed. 5. Car maintenance  By neglecting to take care of the car, you may face an abundance of additional fees when the end of your lease approaches. It is better to have the damage fixed prior to the car company accessing the damage themselves. 6. Be aware of your Credit Score A considerable amount of your payments depends on your credit score. The better your score, the lower your payments. If you are unaware of your credit score, dealerships may just assume it is lousy, and hike up your payments.
