Market remains strong Although the number of rooms in Copenhagen hotels has grown by some 3,000 or 21% since 2017, the hotel market remains strong, with hotels continuing to boast impressive KPIs.

Since 2010, bednight growth has been almost 70%, corresponding to strong annual growth of 6.0%.

Siden 2010 er antallet af overnatninger eksempelvis steget med næsten 70% svarende til en høj, årlig vækstrate på 6,0%.

The period between 2011 and 2017 was characterised by virtually unchanged room supply, but strong and fairly stable bednight growth, with resulting capacity limitations driving up room rates quite significantly. Years 2017 and 2018 marked record-breaking highs in terms of revenue and earnings alike, highs that continued in 2019. Since 2010, the average daily rate (ADR) has increased by 32% for budget/mid-priced (regular) hotels and by 40% for more exclusive (upscale) hotels. In the same period, inflation has been only 13%. Combined with climbing occupancy rates, this has prompted an even sharper increase in the revenue per available room (RevPAR): We estimate that 2019 figures will exceed 2010 levels by 60% and 71% for budget/regular and upscale hotels, respectively.
