In April 2020, M3 connects to M4, a new north-south line that will dramatically improve access to the two relatively new urban development districts Nordhavn and Sydhavnen. Initially, two stations open, providing access to Nordhavn. The southbound leg of M4 is scheduled for completion in 2024, while the northbound is completed in step with the development of Nordhavn. As from 2025, the suburbs will benefit from a 28-km long light rail along Ring Road 3, with 28 stops between Lyngby/DTU in the north and Ishøj in the south. The light rail opens up for the development of new residential and commercial areas, expected to attract long-term investments.
