ABB’s ACS480 drive: for a broad range of applications

The ACS480 was launched last year in South Africa at the ABB Customer World Event held at the Sandton Convention Centre in April 2018. ABB introduced the ACS480 general purpose all-com- patible drive to meet the energy-efficiency and process control needs of a variety of light industries, including: • food & beverage • logistics & warehousing • water & wastewater. The new drive series offers a great match for many applications, such as for conveyors, fans, and compressors, and is specifically designed to optimise operations in an energy efficient and simple manner. In a compact package, users get the exact functionality they need to intuitively and easily control many standard applica- tions. All you need – for your basic needs The ACS480 general purpose drive has all essential functions built inside and is therefore optimised to manage common var- iable-torque applications via numerous integrated and pre-pro- grammed features such as PID (proportional integral derivative)

controllers, pump and fan macros and timers. Inbuilt EMC C2 filter secures compliance with the latest European and interna- tional standards allowing the drive to be used in industrial and commercial (building) environments. To protect both people and machinery, the drive comes with key safety functions such as a TÜV-certified safe-torque-off (STO) as standard. In addition, the drive is enabled for connectivity to most common automation net- works and has Bluetooth capability for easy configuration of the drive and monitoring of parameters with mobile devices. Pure easiness for many purposes Easiness is at the core of ACS480 general purpose drives, offer- ing extensive yet simple process control for many applications. Built-in functionalities and pre-programmed macros not only save users time, by making the drive instantly ready for use, but also simplify the drive’s selection process. Furthermore, the advanced and intuitive control panel assists users to commission the drive and enables easy operation and fast monitoring of the processes.
