PRESSURE + LEVEL MEASUREMENT + INSTRUMENTATION

Bulk solid overfilling problems?

Two different device versions enable optimum positioning of the probe head in respective applications. Probe length can be individually chosen to correspond to re- spective maximum level switching point. Model NSC-R comes with a PTFE-coat- ed rigid probe. Thereby a maximum of 3000 mm is possible with vertical assembly. Cable probe NSC-C is installed from the top and with a length of 15 m, and it can also be used for large vessels. The polypropylene coated cable can be individually shortened to the customers’ required length. These very rugged and reliable measur- ing instruments operate without movable parts and are thus almost wear-free. They can be adjusted to the particular measur- ing task with the pluggable module by DIP switches and potentiometer. Probes are

designed so that caking/crustification in the vicinity of tank aperture does not lead to error mes- sages. They are suit- able for operation in dust-ex-zones and available with ap-

Kobold’s NSC capacitive liquid level mon- itors from INSTROTECH offer protection against overfilling of bulk solids. Monitor- ing of minimum level is also possible at low levels, and with light media with low me- dium density. The device is specifically de- signed for application with varying grades of solids, for example cement, sand, flint and animal feed. The tested measuring system is based on properties of a capacitor. With this de- vice, the level monitor metallic electrode and metallic tank wall assume the tasks of condenser plates. When room between these two plates is filled by a medium, voltage potential changes. Voltage change very reliably signals excess and undercut of limit value. The switching point is thus determined by position of the probe head.

proval according to ATEX II 1/2 D (EExia IIA). Key features of the NSC capacitive liq- uid level monitors: • Measuring range: 265 - 3 000 mm • tmax + 80°C ; pmax 0.5 bar • Connection: G 1 male, Adapter: G 1., G 1., round flange, weld-in sleeve 1 re- lay, SPDT Enquiries: Instrotech.Tel. +27 (0) 10 595 1831 or email sales@instrotech.co.za At sea? Pressure, temperature and flow sensors with DMV-GL New DMV-GL approval means ifm’s tried-and-test- ed fluid sensors can now also be used in maritime applications. The approved compo- nents help the user to overcome ob- stacles in ship and plant approval. The sensors are distin- guished by their compact and ro- bust design and are therefore ideal for demanding applications, for example, in hydraulics. • DNV-GL approval for applications on ships • Pressure transmitter with analogue output 4...20 mA • Temperature transmitter with analogue output 4...20 mA and IO-Link • Flow sensor with programmable switching out- put • Submersible pressure transmitters with ana- logue output 4...20 mA and additional ATEX approval In addition, ifm offers a five-year warranty. Fast and accurate data transmission with Leuze The Leuze DDLS 500 optical data transceiver, available from Countapulse Controls, has a high optical transmission of 100 Mbit/s. The photoelectric sensor allows data transmission without cabling and without interference. Gerry Bryant, managing director of Countapulse Controls, says that the Leuze DDLS 500 optical data transceiver can instantaneously transmit all common Ethernet protocols up to distances of 120 metres. These protocols include Profinet, EtherNet IP, EtherCat, Ethernet TCP/IP and Ethernet UDP. Constant monitoring and notification of the signal level on the easy to read LED display allows quick reaction to issues like soiling of the lens, en- suring simplified maintenance and diagnostics. The modular design of the Leuze DDLS 500 includes an integrated bub- ble level for accurate installation. The patented single-hand adjustment of the instrument allows precise alignment of the data light beam. In addition, the device projects four laser spots on the floor along the intended light path, aiding in the easy alignment of the device at a distance.

Countapulse Controls is the leading southern African supplier of sensing, measurement, counting, switching, monitoring and positioning instru- mentation. The company has the full backing of its German principals and offers a complete technical advisory service for the most effective use of its products in automotive and other branches of engineering.
