NOTE You can also use a summary task to select all subtasks for cutting or copying by selecting the summary task row. If you are cutting tasks from a project, select OK when prompted to confirm that you want to remove all the subtasks. Before cutting it make sure it is collapsed. The overallocation icon may appear because the resources are brought in at 100%.

Procedures

1. Switch to the Gantt Chart view. 2. Select the tasks you want to save in the subproject.

3. Click the Cut Task button

or the Copy Task button .

4. If prompted, select OK to delete all the subtasks.

5. Click the New button .

6. Click the Paste button . 7. Enter a project start date for the new project. 8. Save the project.

Step-by-Step

From the Student Data directory, open HOUSE18.MPP . Create a subproject.

If necessary, switch to the Gantt Chart view.

Drag the split bar to the right to view the task Start column. Scroll as necessary and notice that the 24 Build Infrastructure task is scheduled to start on Fri 9/7/16 . This date is the earliest start date of the tasks you want to use in the subproject file. Return the split bar to its original position.
