W ORKING WITH M ULTIPLE P ROJECTS

Task

Work with multiple projects.

Open Rooms18 . 1. Create a subproject using the 1 Planning Phase task through the 5 Obtain Bids task. Remove any constraints and save the file to the student data folder as Plans. Add a milestone called End of Planning Phase. Change the Project start date to 6/24/16, close and save Plans . 2. Once Tasks 1 Planning Phase through 5 Obtain Bids have been deleted, save the current file as Renovations and close the file. 3. Create a blank project. Insert the Plans and Renovations as subproject. Expand the subproject. 4. Select the 6 End Planning Phase task and link it to the 3 Paint Trim . Notice that the Paint Trim row heading changed to 4 . 5. Add a 5 day lag time to the 6 End Planning Phase and 3 Paint Trim task dependency. 6. Save file as Remodel . Save changes to Plans and Renovations. 7. Open Plans . Notice that the linked task appears in gray.

8. Double-click the linked 7 Paint Trim task. Notice that the Renovations project opens. 9. Create a workspace file named Updates . Close the open files and then open the Updates workspace file. Save the changes when prompted. 10. Consolidate the two open files to display in the Gantt Chart view. Collapse the subprojects and arrange them in the Plan and Renovate order. Expand the subprojects.
