The Share Resources dialog box closes and the resources in the selected file are shared with the current project.

Notice that the resources contained in the Company Pool file now appear in the Resource Sheet view for the Tudor project.

Practice the Concept: Display the Cambridge file and share the resources from the Company Pool file. Switch to the Resource Sheet view to see the shared resources.

Close all three files and save the changes.

O PENING A S HARER F ILE



Discussion

When you open a project that is linked to a resource pool and the pool file is not already open, the Open Resource Pool Information dialog box opens providing two options.

The default option is Open resource pool to see assignments across all sharer files... , which causes the pool and the selected sharer file to open. When this option is chosen, the resource pool opens along with the sharer file, but it opens as a read- only file so that other sharer files will still have access to it. In addition, if you make changes to the resource information in your project file, you must have the resource pool open in order to update the pool.

The Do not open other files option opens the selected sharer file only. If you open the sharer file using this option, you will not be able to assign resources from the resource pool.

If the pool is already open, the Open Resource Pool Information dialog box will not open.
