W ORKING WITH R ESOURCE P OOLS

Task

Work with resource pools.

1. Start a new project. 2. Open the Options dialog box and select the Schedule tab. Change the Show assignment units as an option to Decimal . 3. Use the Resource Sheet view to create a resource pool. Enter the information listed below and save it as Pool . Close the Pool file.

4. Open Company Pool.mpp , Fifth Floor.mpp and Seventh Floor.mpp . Share the resource pool in the Company Pool file with both files. Close and save all files. 5. Open Fifth Floor and the resource pool along with it. Open Seventh Floor . 6. Assign two additional units of the Electrician resource to the 17 Electrical Adjust. - Computer Room task in the Seventh Floor file. Assign two additional units of the Painter resource to the 7 Paint Trim task in the Fifth Floor file. 7. Update the resource pool with the information in all sharer files. Switch to the Company Pool file and display the Usage table in the Resource Sheet view. Notice the work assigned to the Electrician and Painter resources. Switch to the Resource Usage view to view the tasks assigned to the resources. 8. Close all files and save the changes. 9. Open the Company Pool resource pool with read-write access.
