Discussion

You can create a picture of a project, or part of a project, and insert it into a file in another application.

There are three image options for pictures in the Copy Picture dialog box. Two options copy the image to the Windows Clipboard so that you can paste it into another open Windows-based application. Of the two copy and paste options, the For screen option copies all the formatting, while the For printer option copies the image in grayscale. The last option, To GIF image file , creates a graphic file in a GIF format. This graphic format is recognized for use in web pages as well as in other Windows applications. You can also specify the name and location in which to save the image file. If you do not select specific rows, the copied picture only includes the rows you see on the screen in the current view and the Rows on screen option is enabled by default. If you wish to limit the copy to fewer rows or copy more rows than are visible, select the rows before you open the Copy Picture dialog box and the Selected rows option will be enabled automatically. If you are copying a view that includes a timescale, you can use the timescale as it displays on the screen. If the current view does not include the total date span you wish to capture, you can specify the starting and ending dates for the timescale in the From and To fields. When a project includes resource labels in the Gantt chart, you may want to specify a greater ending date so that all the labels are included. If you are copying with the screen or printer options, and you select a date range that is too large for an application, Project alerts you with the options to keep the selected date range, zoom out the timescale to fit the picture, scale the picture to fit a maximum width of 22 inches, or truncate the picture to fit a maximum width of 22 inches. You can also cancel the operation and manually change your selected range or zoom level. Although a GIF file can be any size, you should adjust the zoom level before saving to a file. If you insert the GIF file in a web page, you may not want to force viewers to horizontally scroll five screens to see the total date span of the project.
