NOTE You can create a custom WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) code in a task view. To do this, select the Project ribbon, point to the WBS command, select the Define Code command, and set the code properties. To view the code, you need to add the WBS field to the desired view. NOTE You can also use the Custom Fields dialog box to create a variety of other custom codes, such as cost codes or date codes. You can also create a lookup table to provide a list of entries from which you can choose when entering the outline codes. To create a lookup table, select the Lookup… button in the Custom Fields dialog box.

Procedures

1. Switch to the desired task or resource view.

2. Select the Task/Resource Sheet Tools tab, Format ribbon.

3. Point to the Columns group. 4. Select the Custom Fields command. 5. Select the Custom Outline Codes from the Type dropdown.

6. Select the outline code you want to define in the Outline Code list box.

7. Select Rename .

8. Enter a new name for the outline code in the New name for ‘ Outline Code#’

box.

9. Select the Lookup… button

10. Select Code Mask (optional) . 11. Select Edit Mask .

12. Select the Sequence list.

13. Select the desired sequence option.

14. Select the Length field.

15. Select the Length list.

16. Select the desired length.
