Marc Meire, divisional managing director of Aveng Grinaker-LTA Building, reports that the bulk of the structure is nearing completion. Brickwork, plaster and other wet trades, as well as first fix services and bulk services installations, are in progress. “We are exceptionally pleased to have been awarded another contract through our established relationship with the Netcare Group,” he comments. “Despite the steelworkers strike and recent rainfall, the project is on target for completion in August 2015.” The 14 000 m 2 , double-storey building, which is situated west of Johannesburg, near Krugersdorp, comprises a reinforced concrete frame with flat slabs, while the external envelope is mostly made up of brickwork. In addition to the construction of the building, all associated works, including the specialised installations and finishes, are being undertaken by Aveng Grinaker-LTA. The company has previously completed hospitals in Lesotho and in Mitchell’s Plain in the Western Cape.
