S S The GreenBow from Bow Technology

Blachford has worked closely with wire drawers to control and mitigate the risks associated with combustible dusts. The resulting low dust lubricants from Blachford reduce the amount of dust created during all aspects of the drawing operation, but especially address the issue of dust created when the lubricant detaches from the wire after exiting the die. When wire is drawn into a die, it pulls lubricant into the die and heats it. At the higher temperature the lubricant softens, becomes tacky, and attaches to the wire as a cohesive film, but when the wire exits the die, it starts to cool, and the lubricant film cools and becomes brittle. When the wire is subsequently bent around a capstan the brittle lubricant can fall away from the wire surface, resulting in liberated lubricant that can become an airborne dust hazard. Blachford’s Low Dust Dry lubricants attach onto the wire differently, adhere better at cooler temperatures, and resist falling away from the wire when it is cooled and bent. The result is less detached lubricant, so lowering the risk of dust creation in the wire drawing environment. Blachford – Canada Website: www.blachford.ca
