Winding up at low tension

The ACT series coilers can reduce labor costs by utilizing one operator for several extrusion lines. Special control features and an operator touch screen interface allow convenient operator controls with near perfect switchover reliability at high speeds. The automatic design eliminates product from piling up on the floor, as required on manual switch-over machines, saving the operator time, minimizing scrap rates, and improving wind appearance and product quality while improving safety. TPC Wire & Cable Corp has developed a replacement for standard silicone rubber motor lead (SRML) cable. The company created Thermo-Trex ® 200-HD cable to meet the demand for a heat-resistant, flexible cable that offers better cut-through and abrasion resistance than traditional SRML products. The flexibility of the Thermo-Trex ® 200-HD cable is achieved by using finely stranded, tinned copper conductors and a specially woven high density fabric jacket enriched with moisture-resistant finishing compounds. High heat resistance allows the Thermo-Trex ® 200-HD towithstandcontinuous temperatures up to 392°F (200°C) and flash heat up to 775°F (413°C). The high density fabric adds protection against cut-through and abrasion. “We’re excited to introduce our new Thermo-Trex ® 200-HD cable. This new cable will provide better solutions for our customers who are looking for a cable with added product benefits over traditional SRML,” said Flexible and heat-resistant

Tulsa Power has released the ACT (automatic cut and transfer) series, a new line of high performance coilers. The new range incorporates a dual spindle turret winder, designed for stranded, flexible wire or cable from 18 AWG to 4/0, either as part of an extrusion process or coupled with other ancillary devices on a rewind application.

The fully automatic system offers a cut and transfer feature that quickly clamps, cuts and transfers the product from full reel to empty reel, at speeds up to 1,000fpm, without process interruptions. An ultrasonic dancer locates the position of the product and assures a smooth functioning of controlled winding, even at low tensions. Tulsa Power developers are claiming “a near perfect military wind” through the tension control capability and an operation feature which minimizes any angle in the relationship between the material guide arm and the bobbin/coil surface.
