The official name is Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, but using the full name is cumbersome.Thus, “Virginia Tech” is preferable in all but formal uses. Do not use “VT” or “Va.Tech” in body copy, in titles of publications or in any “formal” publication. Auburn University The official name is Auburn University. Auburn University is also often referred to and known as “Auburn” or “AU.” University of Louisiana Monroe The official name is the University of Louisiana Monroe and the acronym is “ULM.”
