Amazon River Expedition ABOARD THE AQUA OR ARIA

The Amazon River is one of the earth’s grandest wildernesses. Journey along the two largest tributaries and through remote Pacaya Samiria National Reserve into a world of neon-bright birds, playful monkeys, graceful hawks and herons, and millions of butterflies. As you explore, try your hand at fishing for piranha, visit riverside communities, and enjoy night excursions by skiff under a canopy of sparkling stars. DAYS 1-3 JUNE-NOVEMBER (LOW WATER ITINERARY) Jungle trails are more accessible in low water season. Voyage along a blackwater river looking for birds, monkeys, and sloths. See the iguanas of Yacapana, watch for pink freshwater dolphins, and visit a sustainable resource project. As sun sets, the ship’s searchlights come on and you’ll look for caimans, tree boas, tarantulas, and frogs. DAYS 4-8 UCAYALI Meet native Cocama Indians, explore the Ucayali, the Amazon’s largest tributary, visit dolphin-feeding spots along the Pacaya, and learn about medicinal plants.
