A cover from East Szechwan sent to local government, on reverse bearing SYS CNC Chungking Central surcharged $50 on 5c, and SYS Chungking Central print $100 in pair, tied by char. ‘EAST SZECHWAN/HUFENGYI’ (虎 峰埸) cds, fine. Photo HK$ 100 - 200 652 1947 (26 Mar.) A stampless Military cover from Changchun, Ririn, China to Canada through Chinese Army Post with written instruction and British Military Post Office. Addressed to Harold Alexander, The Governor General of Canada, 1947 and Command Chief of Burma 1942-3 in 1942. Alexander and his troops were encircled by the Japanese troops in the Battle of Yenabgyaung, was rescued by Chinese troops commanded by General Sun Li Jen. Sent from General L.J.Sun (孫立人) In WWII, involved with Shanghai’s defense in 1937 and led Chinese expedition force to Burma between 1942-3. He was sent to Manchuria to flight the Chinese civil war in 1946, and withdrew from Manchuria on 1947 due to his colleague’s insubordination accusation against him. Retreated to Taiwan with Chiang Kai Shek on 1949, and named as Command Chief of Army. Put under house arrest in 1955 for treason (collaborating with CIA) until 1988 when he passed away. Photo HK$ 1,300 - 1,600 654 1947 (3 June) A real photo picture postcard depicting Junks on Whampoo river, bearing CNC the 3rd Shanghai Union surcharged $100 on 8c on SYS New York print, $00 on $4 on SYS London 3rd print, tied by bilingual ‘SHANGHAI’ cds, date not clear, alongside, handstamped ‘T/Shanghai’ Postage Due mark in black. The postcard rate to overseas was $700 effective from 1st March 1947 to 10th Oct. 1947. Fine. Photo HK$ 500 - 800
