On reverse bearing Silver Yuan Cheng Chung Book Co., surcharged 10c on $1,000 x 6, tied by very neat bilingual ‘SWATOW’ cds x 2, ‘HONG KONG/28.5.49’ and ‘SINGAPORE/31.5.49’ transit, ‘KUCHING/ SARAWAK/2.6.49’ arrival cds. Fine. Photo HK$ 2,000 - 2,500 869 1949 (29 June) A Sliver Yuan cover to Belgium, bearing Revenue stamps surcharged 4c on $10 strip of 4, tied by char. ‘KANSU’ cds. The 16c rate was the international double weight, up to 40g surface mail postage. The Silver Yuan international mail matters form North West China are rare. 870 1949 (31 July) A Silver Yuan cover from Canton to Shanghai, on reverse bearing SYS Hwa Nan print 4c, tied by bilingual ‘CANTON’ cds, The 4c domestic rate was up to 31 July 1949. Therefore, this is the last day application of the 4c rate. Furthermore, Shanghai was liberated on May 27 1949. this cover is therefore an outstanding example of trans Nationalist and Communist mail . Photo HK$ 4,500 - 5,000 871 1949 (6 Aug.) A Silver Yuan cover from Lanchow to USA, on reverse bearing SYS Hwa Nan print, 1c, 4c and 10c strip of 5, tied by bilingual ‘LANCHOW’ cds, the 55c was the international airmail postage rate.
