1026 1913 (31 Mar.) A red band cover from Verkhneudinsk, Transbaikal (East Siberia) triple rate registered to Kulsk (Ki-Shun area, China. On reverse, bearing Russian Coat of Arms 14k blue and red x 2, pays charges of 7k x 3 plus 7k registration fee, tied by ‘VERHNEUDINSK’ Russia P.O cds, with a appropriate label, on front with the fine strike of ‘KULSK/3.4.13’ arrival cds, a few tears at right, rare. Note: Much of East Siberia was once a part of China, ceded to Russia in mid-19th century (Treaties of 1858 &1860) and retained a large population. Although the existence of a post office at Lulsk has long been known from official records, only a few covers have been recorded. Photo HK$ 20,000 - 30,000
