Inter-professional education enables the baccalaureate graduate to enter the workplace with baseline competencies and confidence for interactions and communication skills that will improve practice, thus yielding better patient outcomes. Functions and Responsibilities of Team Members: • Motivating others • Coaching (collaborative process focusing on actions that move the individual forward through the process of learning and result in helping people achieve their goals) • Displaying role model behavior • Treating others with respect • Recognizing achievements • Maintaining a positive attitude • Inspiring trust and confidence • Delegation The nurse has multiple roles as a member functioning as part of the inter-professional team: • Advocate • Counselor/coach • Manager/leader • Informatics and research • Care provider • Role model The registered nurse participates in providing care to the client and collaborates with the inter- professional health team to identify both care activities and outcomes for the client. The nurse assists in selecting and activating the appropriate clinical pathway and works closely with the MD while reviewing the patients progress toward the clinical pathway and reviewing outcomes. The nurse also assesses and reports any variances and areas where the outcome is not met and discusses and re-evaluates the plan of care by all disciplines involved. The nurse plays a role in assessing critical pathways as part of performance improvement performing a root cause analysis in
