A Silver Yuan cover sent to Chingking, on front bearing East Szechwan surcharged on SYS 5c on $500,000 in pair, tied by char. ‘WEST SZECHWAN/LOKSHAN’ cds and bilingual ‘CHUNGKING/29,11,49’ arrival cds, on reverse bearing surcharged 10c on $1,000 on revenue stamps in pair, tied by the same cds, with faint ‘EAST SZECHWAN/ SHAPINGPA’ transit. very late usage, Chungking was liberated on 30th Nov. 1949. Photo HK$ 1,400 - 1,800 634 1949 (25 May) A stampless Silver Yuan cover to Hong Kong, tied by char. ‘Postage Paid/Fenghuang’ (鳳凰) with char. ‘HUNAN/FENGHUANG’ cds alongside. On reverse with char. ‘HUNAN/CHENXI/27.5.49’ transit (辰谿) plus 2 covers to local, tied by commemorative cds, one cover with stamp missing. Photo HK$ 1,600 - 2,000 635 1949 (25 Nov.) A Silver Yuan cover air mail to Tihwa, on reverse bearing Kwang Tung overprint on revenue $100 as Domestic Air Mail, and Unit stamp Domestic Ordinary, that stamp was rejoined by 2 stamps and looked like a complete stamp, the post counter didn’t notice it and let it pass through, tied by bilingual ‘CANTON’ cds, ‘SHANGHAI/16.12.49’ roller transit and bilingual ‘TIHWA/25.1.50’ arrival cds. Since the liberation of Canton was on 14th Oct. 1949, the aircraft and facilities had been relocated to Hong Kong. Although airmail postage was paid, this letter could only be delivered by express.
