It’s that time of year! Sadly, the snow is gone and ATV trails aren’t open yet (should be by the time you are reading this!). The Sno-Rover’s equipment is put away for the season and ATV trail work will begin shortly. The Club just had an ATV Safety Class, Frank Roy and East Millinocket Police Officer Opie Lakeman provided discussions on ATV safety and general rules on ATV use. EBSR is plan ning a couple of major bridge projects so that will make for a busy summer. The Club’s monthly meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Meeting starts at 6PM with a potluck meal prior to the meeting at 5:30. Come on out for the food if nothing else! As always come on out to our Tuesday night Music Jams. These are held every week, food is served starting at 4:30, and the music is from 6-9 PM. You can find the menu each week on the Club’s Facebook Page. Better yet – there’s no admission charge! Stay on top of upcoming events on the Club’s website at www.snorovers.com or fol Hi to all, The grooming season came to a screech ing halt, the first week of March, just like last year. QCSC hopes you enjoyed our trails, this season, short as it was. We groomed about 160 hours, about the same as last year, with 1 week down waiting for parts on both tractors. Our breakfasts have been doing well with great turnout of people from all over. Our Monthly suppers have been busy also. April’s Spaghetti supper will be the last monthly sup per for the season. We are still planning on Chicken BBQ in July and Lobster Feed in August, hope to see you there for great meals. Mt Jefferson Back Country Riders have been doing the area for ATVs that Quadcounty SC has trails for snowmobiles plus trails that their sister club, Lee Mogul Pounders have for sled trails. That area is massive, so QCSC has voted to resurrect the club that was in Lakeville, Springfield, Carroll Plt., Prentiss Twp., Webster Plt.,and Sakom Twp. Downeast Lakes Region ATV Club is in the process of being Incorporated with the State of Maine. It will be a separate club but working with QCSC to provide the best ATV trails possible in our area. There will be a lot of work to be done and we will need people to volunteer to help with trail work and join the Club, after the paperwork is completed. The QCSC Face book page will also be the ATV Club Face book page, so you can find out what work or club activities are being planned. Your Slow Typing Reporter, Kevin What an incredible season we had for some really good local riding. All of the clubs in the greater Bangor area did an exceptional job grooming the trails and making the best of what we had for conditions. Thank you every one for all of your hard work and dedication to the sport of snowmobiling. We had another Radar run at the club on 2/21/26 there were 16 classes with a 70/30 payout. 64 registration and 200 passes down the track. It was fun to actually be able to do fun things in the SNOW at the SNOWMO BILE CLUB. We love to see people enjoying the sport of snowmobiling. Don’t forget July 18th we will be hosting The Kevin Call JR memorial truck pulling event with The Maine State Truck and Tractor Pullers Association. They put on a great show for us year after year. It is a great way to come and support the club as well. Also please remember to tell seniors to be applying for the many scholarships that are available. The Kevin Call Jr memorial schol arship, the Penobscot Snowmobile Club also does a couple of scholarships as well. Keep our clubmember Sonya in your thoughts as she is continuing her hike on the Appalachian Trail. We are all thinking of you, our favorite Club Chef. PENOBSCOT, sc Hermon, ME low the Facebook page. Let’s start out with a very big thank you to all who made the Shirley trails part of their sled trip itinerary this winter. Shirley can boast of a unique location where the altitude and setting often allow more snow to accumulate than in some surrounding towns. It may be a small town, but there are lots of great trails and Shirley offers a lot of good sledding as well as convenient access to ITS 85 from points west! Although it was not a stellar winter for snow accumulation, we were lucky to hold on to what fell due to the cold temperatures and provide good trails to ride on! Unfortunately, the shallow snow depth means that what snow there was will disappear quickly with warm weather approaching. PARK & RIDE Just to remind everyone- Shirley does have a spot for parking if you are trailering your sled. From Rt. 15, head West on either Upper Shirley Rd. or Lower Shirley Rd, to the inter section. The parking lot is just West of that intersection at the junction of West Road and ITS 85 (B&A Railroad Road S.). It is located diagonal to the small town park/ pavilion at Shirley Pond. Room for 6 rigs. (no overnight parking except residents of the street) CLUB RIDES & ACTIVITIES On Saturday March 7th the club hosted another successful cookout, this time in the center of Shirley at the small park which is right at the edge of the Railroad Bed (ITS 85) and across from the Park & Ride location. A great spot to get to by sled or car. The weather was not very cooperative with rain and warmer temperatures but a good time was had by all in attendance. A very BIG thank you again to Indian Hill Trading Post, Tom Taliento, Northeast White water and all the club officers/volunteers in support of the SBTB’s cookouts! In May we will have a special thank you BBQ to honor all of our landowners who so generously allow us to use their properties for our trails. We really appreciate the landowners and could not have trails without their coop eration. Date and location will be announced later. PROJECTS We are currently working on a Maine Trails Program (MTP) grant application to construct a new, expanded bridge on the north end of Shirley Pond near our Adirondack shelter. This would replace the current Greg Young bridge with a much wider engineered bridge that would accommodate much larger groom ing equipment. Marc Costantine is spearhead ing this project. Thank you so much to our business spon sor Eddie’s Tint & Print in Dover-Foxcroft for the new design of our SBTB logo. We intro duced the new logo at our recent cookout with a limited number of tee shirts. These tee shirts can be purchased through a club officer for $20 each at this time. We will be launching an online merchandise store in the near future that can be connected to through our Face book page and website to order other SBTB merchandise. Keep an eye out for informa tion. And please note our new website address for our updated site! https://shirleybogtrail busters.com/
trails maintained. After one big storm, Chris Anderson and John Gillis had a marathon day of grooming to make sure the trails were ready for the weekend. They groomed for a club record of 12 hours to assure great sledding! Thank you for your dedication. Thank you Tim Smith for handling our downtown trail throughout the season. We are happy to recognize Jim Snow’s 55 years of volunteer service to the Branch Duck ers. Jim Snow is one of the club’s founding members when it started in 1971. He has been an active member since it was established. He has been a pivotal part of the club allowing equipment to be stored on his property and volunteering his time to all club tasks. Thank you Jim for your years of commitment and generosity to the club! Until Next Year, Jim LaPointe As we wrap up another snowmobile season here in Alna, it’s hard not to reflect on what a truly wonderful winter it has been. One of the biggest highlights of the season came on the very last day the trails were well groomed and hard packed and it was our Pro gressive Dinner on March 8th. It turned out to be an incredible evening filled with great food, warm homes, and even better company. Traveling from stop to stop and sharing laughs along the way really showcased what makes this club so special. A special thank you to all who opened your homes to welcome us snow covered riders. One week prior, 5 club members ventured out to Montsweag Restaurant for dinner. Since the trail is now well marked and traveled, there are plans to make this a regular destina tion for next season. As mentioned previously, the sliding party this year was a huge success! With a great turnout of kids and adults alike, plenty of hot dogs, hot chocolate, and a whole lot of smiles, it was a perfect day spent outdoors. Events like these remind us why we do what we do, bringing people together to enjoy winter in Maine. Our final meeting of the season on March 7th was well attended, with 29 members join ing us to close things out. It’s always encour aging to see such strong participation and sup port from our members. It’s been a fantastic year on the trails and at our events. We will head out to collect the signs in a few more weeks. Thank you to everyone who volun teered, attended events, helped maintain trails, and supported the club throughout the season. We truly appreciate each and every one of you. We look forward to seeing everyone again next season – October 15th will be the first meeting. Stay safe and enjoy the off-season, Alna Snowmobile Club ~ Midnight Riders Club Reporter - Tabatha Sawyer ALNA sc Alna, ME
Hello from Casco! We had a great month of March, but you know what they say “In like a lion and out like a lamb.” We were hoping to get a couple more weeks in. Mother Nature teased us with a warm spring day, but quickly changed her mind and seems to be back to warmer days. Our trails are closed, as I am sure many others are in the Southern half of the state. The recent snow did not stop our Maine Maple Sunday pancake breakfast on March 22. We were there for those who braved the snowy drive to support us. Thank you to every one that stopped by. We also want to thank the volunteers that helped to plan, cook, serve and clean up. Huge shout out to the members of the Raymond Rattlers Snowmobile Club for coming over to help! You guys made some awesome pancakes! We have another pancake breakfast coming up during Casco Days. Mark your calendars for July 26th. Come have a great breakfast and enjoy Casco Days with us! Although the season is over for us, there are many things already in the works to prepare for next year. We will be working on various projects before next season, while also look ing at upgrading our groomer. Just because the season is over, the work never ends. Have a great spring and summer!
