All the hard work looks to have paid dividends for organizers at this year's IWCS technical symposium with a ten percent increase in visitor numbers to the show in Providence, Rhode Island. This is also on the back of a hectic three or four months in the wire and cable calendar, with both wire China and Wire India taking place and many in the industry traveling to all corners of the globe. But the success of IWCS seems to highlight the thirst for knowledge of people in the industry, especially with the technical symposium being extended by half a day to allow time to complete the program of more than 120 technical presentations. You can catch up on the news from IWCS on page 20. Also worth reading from the UK-side of the pond is the news that Bridon has opened its new plant, built to construct the world's largest andmost com- plex offshore ropes. You can find this on page 30. All of us at wiredInUSA and sister publications EuroWire and Wire & Cable ASIA would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year. David Bell Editor
