BAUMA CONEXPO REVIEW – NEWS

Eazi Access exhibits large range of JLG equipment

JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corporation company and a leading global manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, together with its local dealer, Eazi Access, had a large exhibit at bauma CONEXPO AFRICA 2018, displaying an array of JLG equipment. The 4017RS telehandler offers added com- fort, improved serviceability and lower cost of ownership. The 4017RS is built with proven components, such as Dana Axles, making it an attractive, cost efficient and productive addition to fleets. The 4017RS offers a lift capacity of 4 t and has a maximum lifting height of 17 m. Boom lifts were represented by the JLG 1350SJP – a diesel telescopic boom lift that offers an impressive working height of 43,3 m and a gradeability of 45%. Also on show was the new JLG 520AJ, with a work- ing height of 18 m and a working outreach of 10,65 m, as well as the JLG 800AJ which offers a working height of 26,46 m and a working outreach of 15,74 m. Made from high quality steel, JLG’s articulating boom lifts can lift up to 450 kg. Scissor lifts were represented by the JLG 260MRT – a diesel-operated, rough-terrain scissor. Equipped with a narrow 1,75 m wide chassis, the 260MRT is said to fit into spaces other scissors cannot. The large platform has a capacity of 567 kg, which helps increase productivity on job sites. As standard, the 260MRT is equipped with four-wheel drive, offering enhanced traction. Electric scissors were represented by the 2646ES and the 1930ES. Equipped with direct electric drive, the scissor lifts offer class-leading duty cycles. With a narrow 0,76m width the 1930ES offers quick and Earthmoving and mining equipment sales moved strongly upwards during 2017 to break a three-year downward cycle that had gripped the industry since the second quarter of 2014. Figures released by the Construction and Mining Equipment Suppliers’ As- sociation (CONMESA) show that 5 614 new units were sold during the year marking a healthy 18,3% increase over the previous year’s results. Until then the decline in sales had seen the number of units sold dwindle from 7 250 units in 2013 to a low of 4 747 in 2016. CONMESA Chairman, Lawrence Peters, says the increased sales stem from a wide range of factors including regional construction projects, a

lines to the platform enhance usability for the operator. The standard accessory in the platform accommodates a generator, air compressor or pressure washer. “Eazi has proven to be a strong partner for us in the region,” comments Ian Hume, sales director for JLG in the Middle East, Africa and India. “Their presence at bauma CONEXPO AFRICA reinforced their market leadership through the exhibit of so many JLG products, catering for all types of applications.” Larry Smith, National Sales Executive at Eazi Access, agrees that bauma CONEXPO AFRICA is a key industry event to attend. “We are very excited to bring our range of JLG machines to the expo. Safety is a top priority across all of our industries, and the expo gives us an ideal opportunity to engage with attendees and other industry role players around safety.” b

seamless access through standard doorways, while the 2646ES offers a larger platform of 1,12 m X 2,50 m. The JLG Series of ES Scissors is designed with only two hoses, reducing potential leakage and time spent on maintenance. Another electric product on display was the Toucan 12E. Providing a working height of 12,65 m, a working outreach of 6,05 m and a platform capacity of 200 kg, the product is ideal for maintenance applications. The immediate response AC drive offers greater torque and efficiency. With a very narrow base and a precise control system, the prod- uct is perfect for work in narrow spaces. The range was complemented by a towable boom, the JLG T350, which offers a horizontal outreach of 6,15 m and a platform capacity of 227 kg. JLG towable boom lifts can be delivered with a gasoline engine or an electric motor. Standard air and water-

resurgent agricultural industry, as well as a relative recovery in certain commodities such as coal which resulted in some suppliers with exposure to those markets doing better than expected. “A true recovery can only be expected when the market picks up and we see a sustainable improvement across all sec- tors of the local economy. Nonetheless, it is a positive sign and bodes positively for the year ahead,” Peters says. He says that figures for the four quarters of 2017 averaged approxi- mately 1 400 units per quarter, which is a welcome improvement over the 1 180 units per quarter averaged in the previous year. b
