REGISTRAR OF VOTERS 07/01/2024 TO 06/30/2025
The Registrar of Voters and Deputy Registrars had a busy year maintaining voter registration records, certifying petitions, attending training sessions and servicing elections. August began the excitement of the upcoming Presidential Election. College students wanting a ballot sent to their school address came in for absentee applications; on-line applications for absentee and new voter requests increased and party changes were up as well. These activities continued up to and including Election Day! November 5, 2024, Election Day began at the usual opening time of 6:00 a.m. and people were lined up waiting patiently for the doors to open. Besides the lines of people, there were cameras present as the Secretary of State and her staff were here for the opening. What a way to start the day of voting!! It was a very busy election as lines continued to exist throughout the day. There were 2,650 absentee ballots cast, and 2,686 ballots cast in person for a total of 5,336 ballots cast out of 7,102 registered voters. This resulted in a 75.14% voter turnout. Next election will be June 2025. Nomination Papers were made available on 3/3/25 with the filing due 4/11/25(60 days prior to Election Day). On May 15, 2025, the schoolboard held their annual presentation of the MSAD#6 budget at the High School. There were 20 Buxton voters, 19 Hollis voters, 15 Standish voters and 5 Limington voters who discussed and passed the budget which will now be on the June 10th ballot. On June 10, 2025, the Town had the election for School Board, School Budget and Town positions. Out of 6,299 registered voters, the Town had 128 absentee ballots cast and 630 ballots cast in person which made the total ballots cast 758 and a 12.034% voter turnout. Then on June 14, 2025, the meeting was continued to finish voting on the remaining warrant articles. There were 225 registered voters who took part in this process. Town Hall quickly filled to its capacity, so the meeting was moved to the fire station across the street. All the warrants were positively passed. It was a great turnout and I thank all who came! Respectively submitted,
