BUXTON TOY BOX MARKS A MILESTONE What a difference 30 years makes! Since its founding in 1995, Buxton Toy Box has brightened the holidays for 3,694 children from 1,697 local families. And it’s all thanks to the local businesses and organizations who support us, donors who fill our toy boxes and piggy banks, and volunteer “Elves” who, year after year, get the job done. In 2025, the all-volunteer Toy Box helped put Christmas smiles on the faces of 100 Buxton children from 48 families. Gifts and clothing go to children from birth to age 18. Gifts come by way of the red cards attached to Toy Box Christmas trees at area businesses, churches and organizations, as well as donations to piggy banks the Elves set up all over town. Families also receive wrapping materials for all the gifts. Thanks to a generous grant by the Narragansett Number One Foundation, this year’s gifts included new winter boots for each child. Local families, churches, businesses and organizations also stepped up to put holiday dinners on the tables of 37 families. Once again in August, Santa Claus and his little elves – including three sets of twins – came to town to guide the Toy Box float in the 2025 Buxton Community Parade. Toy Box volunteers work most of their magic in November and December. Occasionally, help is provided when needs arise at other times of the year.
