Town of Buxton, Maine Special Town Meeting Results September 25, 2024
At a meeting of the inhabitants, legal voters of the Town of Buxton in the State of Maine and County of York, duly warned and notified as per Special Town Meeting Warrant, held at the Buxton Municipal Building, 185 Portland Road in said Buxton on September 25, 2024, acting on the Warrant Articles. The Special Town Meeting was called to order by Town Clerk John L. Myers, Jr. at 7:02 PM. There were eighteen people in attendance. The Town Clerk read the Warrant call, the Officer’s Return, and then proceeded with Article 1. “To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.” The Town Clerk asked for nominations for moderator. Article 1. Motion made by Chad Poitras and seconded by Francis Pulsoni to nominate Dana Derring as moderator. Motion made by Mark Blier and seconded by Francis Pulsoni to cease nominations. The Town Clerk ruled an affirmative vote to cease nominations. Three written ballots were cast all in favor of Dana Derring as Moderator. The Town Clerk administered the Moderator’s oath of office to Dana G. Deering. The Moderator asked if there was any opposition to allowing nonresident Town Department Heads including Fire Chief Nathan Schools and Recreation Director Grace Bibber to address the meeting if requested. Hearing no opposition by consensus the Moderator declared that the nonresident Town Department Heads will be allowed to address the meeting if requested. Article 2. Motion made by Mark Blier and seconded by Francis Pulsoni to approve Article 2 as written. Approving $99,742.36 from Undesignated Surplus to reconcile the following accounts for fiscal year 2023-2024. Legal $10,795.44 Administrative Salaries $ 8,364.11 Assessing Services $35,903.70 Transfer Station and Sanitation $18,733.24 Transfer Station Roll Off $ 1,385.40 Fire and Rescue Dept. $16,573.84 Fuel Management System $ 2,993.79 Resurfacing and Sealing Roads $ 4,992.84 Total $ 99,742.36 The Moderator declared an Affirmative Vote on the motion to approve Article 2. Motion made by Mark Blier and seconded by Francis Pulsoni to clarify Article 2 by amending the wording, to see if the Town will vote to ratify overdrafts in the following accounts, and to appropriate from Undesignated Surplus an amount not to exceed $99,742.36 (ninety-nine thousand seven hundred forty-two dollars and thirty-six cents) to fund said overdrafts.
