I forgot about seriousness, it vanished completely, and we laughed out loud.

“Did you count my teeth,  Beetle?”

“I didn’t, but I asked you, and you told me.”

“What did I tell you?”

“You told me you had twenty-four teeth but normally people have thirty-two.”

“Do you mean that your father is not normal?”

“You told me. I didn’t say anything.”

I got up, took her hand and we descended to the path. Some parts of the path, where shallow water ran out from under the hill, were covered with thick mud making the passage almost impossible to cross. I lifted my daughter and stepped into the mud.
