Conference for industrialized magnetic pulse welding and forming

Premium tungsten line for precision TIG welding applications

A conference organized to investigate magnetic pulse welding technology will take place on 3 July 2008 at SLV Munich, a major welding research institute in Germany. Hosted jointly with Pulsar Ltd, the conference will detail the latest developments and practice of industrialized magnetic pulse welding and forming. The conference is sure to attract substantial interest from across the metalworking industry. At the event, SLV will present its recent acquisition, the Pulsar MPW 25 9 model, which represents breakthrough magnetic pulse welding for industrial operations. Pulsar claims to be the first to have successfully industrialized and implemented magnetic pulse welding in major sites worldwide. The company will use the occasion to describe the process it claims has long been known but previously unrealized. Together with industry experts and academic researchers, the conference will describe the technology and applications that may well transform the metal workshop. Sessions included on the conference agenda are case studies in industrial implementation of magnetic pulse welding, quality aspects of magnetic pulse welding, and the benefits and environmental aspects of magnetic pulse welding. Other topics will include coil design for magnetic pulse welding and forming, and benefits gained from magnetic pulse forming. According to Mr Hovav Gilan, marketing director of Pulsar, “When the benefits are compared and weighed, industrialized magnetic pulse cold welding may well be the first significant development in metal welding and forming in years. I believe industry managers and engineers will find the conference an eye-opener, with real practical value for their businesses that can be implemented into the mainstream right now.” Dr-Ing Heidi Cramer, department head of research and development at SLV Munich, notes that the Institute’s experts “look forward to presenting their cooperation with Pulsar at the upcoming conference this July in Munich. They feel that the demo can give a convincing proof of the benefits of the technology’s industrialized application.” Pulsar Ltd, the world pioneer in industrialized magnetic pulse welding and

forming, has made a long known potential technology into a practical machine. Already installed at key locations globally, Pulsar’s magnetic pulse welding and forming equipment is drastically cutting costs, increasing productivity, promoting a greener workplace and allowing the simple welding of different metals. The German Welding Institute SLV Munich is a well-known partner of the metal industry. The Institute is engaged in education, training, research and development, materials testing and quality assurance. With over 70 employees, the Institute has a reputation for in-depth, technological research and evaluation, and is a respected partner of leading manufacturers in Europe and regions. Weldcraft, a leading manufacturer of TIG welding torches and components, has an extensive line of tungsten electrodes. To ensure customers have a wide range of choices, Weldcraft offers five types comprising pure, 2 per cent ceriated, 2 per cent thoriated, 1.5 per cent lanthanum and rare earth. Packages of ten 7-inch tungsten electrodes are colour-coded according to type and feature three languages – English, Spanish and French. Weldcraft evaluated multiple sources to find the highest quality tungsten in the industry and engineers conducted several rigorous tests to ensure quality and durability. Each type of tungsten electrode is available in industry standard diameters of 0.040″, 1 / 16 ″, 3 / 32 ″, 1 / 8 ″ and 5 / 32 ″. They meet the strict requirements of the American Welding Society (AWS). Weldcraft – USA Fax : +1 920 882 6840
