Shantui DELIVERS IN PARTS AND SERVICE By Pierre Sanson

In the African context, and as confirmation of their growing presence, Shantui has con- cluded deals in neighbouring territories such as Zambia and Kenya. In Zambia, Shantui recently delivered equipment worth USD$ 4 million to the Zambia National Service. The deal consisted of 320 hp SD32 bull- dozers and 20 ton SE210 excavators to be employed as part of the youth development programme aimed at infrastructure develop- ment throughout the country. Similar deals were concluded in Kenya where some 68 pieces of equipment were supplied to the Kenya National Youth Service. With Africa’s flourishing economies and the increasingly close economic ties with China, Shantui is steadily growing its overseas busi- ness, seizing this valuable opportunity by ag- gressively pursuing procurement contracts as well as developing products according to customer demand for respective markets. After sales and service, parts distribution and delivery are on par with global standards and are quickly helping to strengthen Shan- tui as a leading multinational brand. Shantui dealers are well-trained and experienced in service delivery as with the local market. Lo- cally, the parts team is very well established

S hantui Construction Machinery es- tablished a presence in South Africa in 2010 by opening its first subsidi- ary company. This is in addition to the facil- ities in East and West Africa where a large number of machines are operating in major projects. This can only be attributed to the growth in the reliability, affordability, ease of operation and parts availability that the Shantui brand offers. Many of the African economies have not yet reached the level of development where the latest innovations in technical and electronic technology in equipment has any additional ma- terial benefits, as hi-tech expertise is not always available to keep the equipment fully operational.

Emerging economies have come to rec- ognise that the Shantui brand meets the requirements of robustness and ease of maintenance so necessary under the harsh African operating conditions. Already the South African landscape is dot- ted with some 400 units of equipment, all well supported by 14 exclusive dealers who have the trust in the Shantui brand, to offer specialized backup as and where required. Success in Africa has been the result of Shantui distancing itself from the negative typecast of inferior quality and service as- sociated with some brands from the East’s manufacturing sector, to become the largest bulldozer manufacturer in the world.
