WHAT’S NEW TO MEDICARE? Discuss all the upcoming changes to Medicare in 2020. Presenters include Sheri Salloway Yarosh and James Romeo from MediChoice Insurance Agency. Both have extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the needs of Medicare recipients and older adults.

Come learn how to be aware and safeguard yourself. You will be equipped with take-aways and be informed how to not be a victim. HEALTHY LIVING FOR YOUR BRAIN AND BODY For centuries, we’ve known that the health of the brain and the body are connected. But now, science is able to provide insights into how to make lifestyle choices that may help you keep your brain and body healthy as you age. Join us to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement and use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging. GRIEF AND THE HOLIDAYS We know that navigating daily life after the loss of a loved one can be a challenge, especially during the holiday season. We would like to invite you and your family to attend this program. Our hope is that families will come away with a better understanding of the grief they are feeling and will enjoy a lighter and more hopeful holiday season. NATIONAL MEMORY SCREENING EVENT Emerald Crest of Shakopee is offering free, confidential memory screenings, as well as follow-up resources and educational materials to those concerned about memory loss. National Memory Screening Event is an initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to provide optimal care and services to individuals confronting dementia and their caregivers. SUPPORT GROUPS MEMORY CAFÉ

Memory Café provides great opportunities for those diagnosed with memory loss and their care partner(s)/family to engage with peers in a very relaxed and unstructured environment. THE IMPORTANCE OF MEANINGFUL ACTIVITY FOR THOSE WITH DEMENTIA Join us for an insightful presentation on how important meaningful activities are for those living with Dementia and their care partners. Occupational Therapist Sarah Ziegler from Emerald Crest Memory Care will explain how to incorporate activities at all levels of dementia and the importance of structure and rhythm of the day. We'll also discuss Shakopee Memory Café's plans for the next 12 months. Need to bring your loved one with? Alternative program will be provided in a quiet supervised room for those with dementia, so their care partner can enjoy the presentation. Sponsored by: Emerald Crest of Shakopee.
