He not only edged up to No. 15 in the world standings, but he bumped himself up to eighth place in the Wrangler Tour standings with 480 points. The Wrangler Tour consists of 22 of the PRCA’s biggest rodeos and culminates with the Justin Finale in Puyallup, Wash., Sept. 6-9. The top 24 competitors in the Tour standings in each event will earn a spot at the Justin Finale, as cowboys make a final push toward the all-important Top 15 in the world standings. “I dang sure needed those Tour points and I absolutely want to be there in Puyallup,” said Muncy, who made the NFR in 2007, 2009-15 and 2017. “There’s a lot of money to be won at Puyallup. If you get hot there, you dang sure can make the Finals from that rodeo.”

Muncy captured the title with his 86-point ride on Pete Carr’s Classic Pro Rodeo’s Drama Queen. “It was amazing to get that win,” said Muncy, who made his ride Aug. 9. “I had a great horse, and everything just worked out perfectly. I went into that ride kind of blind. I heard it was supposed to be a nice horse, and it was exactly what they said. It was a super nice horse that you could dang sure show off your riding style on. You always want the ones that jump and kick and are real flashy, and that’s exactly what he was.” Muncy earned $4,710 for his effort, a timely boost for him in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. Thanks to the victory, Muncy was sitting 15th in the Aug. 20 world standings with $64,355. “I’ve wanted to win Albuquerque and Lovington,” said Muncy, 31, who resides in Corona, N.M. “Those are probably two of the bigger rodeos in New
