Fred J. Petersen, a PRCA saddle bronc rider and Gold Card member, of Flandreau, S.D., passed

away Aug. 12 at the Dougherty Hospice House, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was 85. Petersen was born May 11, 1933, in Flandreau to Harry and Nina (Lee) Petersen. He received his education at O’Brien and Vance country schools. He farmed with his dad

Jimmie Y. Adams, a trick rider and trick roper in the PRCA, passed away Aug. 16 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 87. Adams was born Feb. 12, 1931, to Robert and Mattie (Johnson) Adams in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a retired dispatcher and rodeo performer. Adams proudly served in the U.S. Army during the KoreanWar and was a Gold Card member of the PRCA. He had the opportunities of a lifetime appearing on TV shows, movies, performing for the troops, and traveling all over the United States and overseas. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Richard Adams and Basil Adams. He is survived by daughters, Teresa (Dennis) McQueen; Tammy (Joey) Williams; son, Brent Adams; grandchildren, Garrett McQueen and Trivette Adams; great-grandchildren McKinley McQueen, Jace Williams, Kayla Williams, KatherynWilliams; and Adams’ companion, Charlotte.

He raised cattle all his life. He was a saddle bronc rider in rodeos for 12 years. Petersen married Judy Bachman on July 21, 1961, in Flandreau. They bought a farm in 1962 and Petersen continued to ranch and farm. Petersen was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three daughters, Jody (Tommy) Wallin-Clark, Mindy (Mike) Smith and Sally (Michael) Johnson; six grandchildren, Aspen, Gavin, Joshua, Matthew, Heather (Eric) Beltman, Megan (Craig) Veldkamp; two step- grandchildren, Jack and Grace Clark; four great- grandchildren, Aurora, Brooklyn, Blakely, Nora;
