In 2019 the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA) made significant strides in advancing its abilities to fulfill its core mission to manage, enhance and protect the Edwards Aquifer. By embracing the “3 I’s” — the strategic tools of Inclusion, Imagination and Innovation — we envisioned a future for the agency that would enable our best scientific efforts moving forward and ensure that meaningful impact will be made on the communities that we serve through the stewardship of the Edwards Aquifer. In 2020 the EAA will continue striving towards a renewed and strengthened commitment of serving permit holders, stakeholders and neighbors with world-class service based on sound science research and analysis. These efforts will, in turn, increase our abilities to respond in a more timely and confident manner to any and all inquiries and issues, from the mundane to the extraordinary. The images contained within this calendar tell a story and demonstrate how we utilized the tool of inclusion to reach out, explore and create partnerships to create extraordinary possibilities. These possibilities challenged and tested our ability to unleash our imaginations. For the benefit of the communities we serve, the tapping of our imaginations stretches our abilities, which makes us a stronger authority. And to deal with these new challenges, different ways of thinking — innovations — are being considered and established. In 2020 our commitment to the “3 I’s” will result in the EAA’s first-ever permanent Education Outreach Center, to be a primary attraction at the soon-to-be-constructed Morgan’s Wonderland Camp, and the creation and operation of a 150-acre world-class field research observatory. These facilities represent a new era for the EAA and are a direct result of our embracing strategic thought and action. With 2021, the 25th anniversary of the EAA, within sight, we cannot but be optimistic that the pathway we are taking is challenging, occasionally difficult, but in the end wholeheartedly worth the effort. On behalf of the employees and Board of Directors of the EAA, I invite you to join us as we pursue our wonderful futures. And I wish you a happy and prosperous 2020!
