Tivoli Hall sports hall The singer and guitarist Chris Rea became famous in the 1980s with his unique approach to pop-rock music, strongly influenced by blues and characterised by prominent instrumental parts, distinctive vocals and melancholic lyrics. February 2008 highlights

Carnival route: Krekm trg fqiiare – Preiernov trg square – Slovensku cesta road. The traditional Shrovetide Carnival will include a carnival procession through the streets of Ljubljana and a programme of entertainment for children and adults. The procession will consist of groups of traditional Slovenian carnival figures and other themed carnival groups from Slovenia and abroad. Shrovetide Carnival – 2 February, 11:00-16:00

Champions On Ice: Love Story – ice skating spectacle, 6 February, 20:OO

Tivoli Hall sports hall Champions on Ice is a 26-piece group of some of the world's best ice skaters, including, among others, a number of world and Olympic figure skating champions. Their show, which consists of acrobatic and dance acts on ice enhanced by costumes, music and special lighting effects, is considered to be one of the most attractive sporting performances intended for the general public.

Festival Of Egyptian Culture – First half of 2008 Cankarjev dam – Cultural and Congress Centre. This year, the Cankarjev dorn - Cultural and CongressCentre's traditional programme strand entitled Remote Cultures at the Cankarjev Domwill be dedicated to Egypt. A programme of events held under the umbrella title of Festival of Egyptian Culture will include concerts, lectures, folklore events and exhibitions. The Festival's highlight will be a large exhibition entitled Pharaonic Renaissance, set to open in March. Bringing together exhibits from the majority of Western Europe's most important Egyptology collections, the exhibition will provide an insight into one of the more interesting periods in the history of ancient Egyptian civilisation (7th and 6th centuries BC).

Cankarjev dam - Cultural and Congress Centre Babylon, the Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek's second theatre play after Bambiland, tells a provocative yet deeply philosophical story about the Iraqi war and its media representation. Jelinek uses the Fallujah and Abu Ghraib events as a point of departure for her reflection on the intertwining of violence, sex and religion in our civilisation.
