Experience and discovery are key to the growth and development of our students and enrichment is a key feature of the curriculum offer at Brompton Academy. We believe that students are entitled to sample a wide range of experiences that encourage students to tread new pathways, experience the unknown and be excited by new opportunities. The electives programme invites Year 7 students to attend fun-fuelled exciting new experiences that stretch the mind and invigorate the body. Students can enjoy a rich menu of sporting, leisure based or intellectually stretching activities including skiing, horse riding, chess, jewellery making and international cooking – all free of charge! The established Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme is open to students from the age of 14 years to gain new experiences and nationally recognised certification which can be useful when later considering university, apprenticeships or employment. Brompton Academy is home to a our newly appointed UKAT Furry Friends. We have three Dog Mentors who are available in designated areas of the Academy. Students' can enjoy seeing our UKAT Furry Friends at lunch times in the library or some students are offered bespoke one-to-one programmes. The Academy has its very own unique Combined Cadet Force (CCF), which is a

young persons movement sponsored by His Majesty’s Armed Forces and open to students from the age of 12 years. The CCF provides students with a wide range of challenging and fun opportunities developing sound leadership skills, self-reliance, perseverance and endurance. Students are encouraged to embrace this sense of belonging through our exciting and very successful Mini School system where students participate in healthy competitions such as sports events, assemblies, performances and mutiple charity events. We are open and inclusive towards all our young people at the Academy and we encourage many different types of culturally rich activities; such as Black History Month, Chinese New Year, VE Day and we have our very own LGBTQ+ group. A sense of global citizenship, through foreign trips and international projects – ‘we dare to tread where others fear to go’ – broadening horizons and expanding minds. Adult and family learning experiences are available for students and their families to engage in throughout the Academy as we work in partnership with the University of Kent who offer a wide range of tasters, short courses and Access programmes. We encourage a culture of celebration through assemblies, achievement events and high quality performances.
