Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) had a dream. He wanted people with black skin and people with white skin to be together.

Back then, there were rules to separate black people and white people. MLK wanted to change those rules.

One rule was separate schools. MLK did not like that.

One rule was separate drinking fountains. MLK did not like that.

One rule was separate bathrooms. MLK did not like that.

Martin Luther King Jr. gave speeches. He talked about changing the rules.

MLK was a Civil Rights leader. He helped get new rules.

Some people did not want the rules to change. MLK was shot and died in Tennessee. It was sad.
