2019 DEMO DAY

WELCOME

Welcome to Demo Day 2019. We are so pleased you are participating as a member of our entrepreneurial community. Today is a perfect day for all of us. While five companies will take the stage, they don’t standalone. Over 50+ mentors have worked with RAMP, providing expertise, hours of guidance, connections and encouragement. We indeed have a generous and accessible region. These five companies will share with you their ideas and their plans to grow, yes, right here at home. Demo Day is not the end of their program; it is, however, an important milestone and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our region’s accomplishments. While we have more to do, we have shown the benefits of working together supporting our startups, and the economic benefits are easy to document. Last year RAMP joined the Global Accelerator Network (GAN) to strengthen its program. This network connects our program to 107 other accelerators around the world. Our cohort members will be members of GAN throughout their entire business life cycle and they will remain connected to an even larger world of support. GAN’s commitment to us and others in the accelerator community is that NO STARTUP STANDS ALONE, and we feel their support. Thank you for participating in Demo Day. I think you will agree, these companies have a bright future.

The company’s app and platform create a way for independent lawn and garden centers to increase revenue by taking a homeowner’s soil test results and recommending products that are on the garden center’s shelves.

FAVE provides tools, training, and program development to help businesses and municipalities mitigate risks and attract the $220B market for goods and services known as adapt-to-ability. The need for these services has grown significantly in recent years due to the aging population, veterans with extended years in service, the 1 in 59 children identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and many others with special needs. FAVE brings years of experience and tested tools to address the needs of businesses and consumers in this growing market space. FAVE 1.0 focuses on mitigating risks with a universal awareness program to “check for communication: stop, evaluate, accommodate.” FAVE 2.0 will add an online market place, connecting families to businesses that can meet their needs.

Getting Involved Mentors are important factors in the success of RAMP. RAMP relies on two types of mentors: lead mentors and ad-hoc mentors who provide expertise as needed. Lead mentors agree to be the lead for a specific company and commit to spending time with their company weekly. Ad-hoc mentors spend time as needed. Both of these mentors provide a valuable service and are critical to the growth of our entrepreneurial community. If you have time, understand the value of mentoring, want to improve our entrepreneurial community, strengthen the region, network with interesting, smart people, then this might be

something you would like to consider. I hope you will contact me to learn more.

RAMP is housed in the historic Gill Memorial Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, built in 1926. The hospital is believed to be the first specialty hospital in the Commonwealth. After state-funded renovations of Gill Memorial, the building reopened in 2017 as home to RAMP, a hub of entrepreneurial activity in downtown Roanoke.

The Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council and RAMP are pleased to present Pitch & Polish sessions for area Technology Start-Ups. Pitch & Polish clinics provide a valuable opportunity to pitch your business idea to a team of regional experts who want to help you polish your presentation, provide feedback on your business model and connect you with the resources you need to grow. Events are held throughout the region. The next pitch event is Blacksburg | VTCRC - New River Valley Conference Room November 13, 2019 6:00-8:00 PM Registration is open and we are Ready for Your Pitch

Four slots are available with each clinic. WWW.RAMPRB.Tech

Get ready to pitch. The help you are looking for may be closer than you think.
