Notes from the Chebeague Island Council

It is great to have theWellness Center open, and Steve Baybutt, RN, is enjoying getting to know the island community. He is here every other Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. He is available to draw blood, check PT/INR, measure blood pressure, change dressings, do medication setups and wellness checks, answer questions, and give that missed flu shot. There is no charge for this service, no appointment is needed, and transportation to the Wellness Center can be arranged. Please feel free to stop in and say hello. Helping to keep our island community healthy is the Council’s mission, and we are very pleased to be partnering with MaineHealth Care at Home to continue to provide health care on the island. In keeping with this mission, the Council will now be partnering with CTC to offer assistance to those who need to travel to the mainland for scheduled, ongoing medical treatment, such as chemotherapy or physical therapy. The expense of these frequent trips can quickly add up, and CTC and the Council are here to help. CTC and the Council can also help cover the cost of visiting family members who are

ill. The Samaritan Fund Program will be responsible for coordinating this. If you need help with these transportation costs, please call Ester at 846-4178. Winter is coming. Thanks to the support of the island community the Council is still able to provide fuel assistance. Please think of your island neighbors and friends and consider making a donation to the Fuel Fund. Every dollar given is used to buy fuel (oil, K1, propane, electric, wood), and the island fuel providers work with the Council to make sure that this assistance remains anonymous. With your help, no one will be cold this winter because they cannot afford fuel. Please send you tax-deductible donations to the Chebeague Island Council at P.O. Box 12. Thank you. The entire Chebeague Island Council would like to say thank you to Chebeaguers near and far for all their support, encouragement, and kind words. We are all grateful to live in this wonderful community and appreciate the hard work that goes on “behind the scenes” to help make this a place that we are truly thankful to call home.

The Foot Doctor

The Foot Doctor, Dr. Rybka, is coming to Chebeague on Wednesday, December 28 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Call 829-6463 for an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.

No charge for these services. Tuesday December 6 Tuesday December 20 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
