Notes from the Hall

At this time of year especially, I would like to thank all those who help make the Hall the vital center of our community. Here’s a partial list of the volunteers and board members whose efforts keep us afloat: First, many thanks to our board members: To Gina, our co-president, who is quick to volunteer for any job, no matter how large or difficult; To Susie, our indefatigable scribe, whose impish sense of fun energizes all Hall events; To Dianne, our indispensable booking agent, thank you note writer, and all-around doer of everything; To Tad, our go-to guy for anything that needs repair, including the job of standing atop the wobbly ladder to replace the fluorescent bulbs; To Linda, for her unfailingly positive attitude; To Arlene, for her ability to get anything done well and in record time; To Beverly, at 19 years and counting as our treasurer for life, who never complains about doing the books or making deposits; To Gail, who is game for anything, but especially bingo; To Pat, who has finally gone uptacamp after years of service; And to Mary (mother of Nancy), our newest board member, for already pitching in and being a great sport. To Lynne, Sally, and Deb, who handle all the dirty Community Center jobs while we cheer them on; To Ruth and Wanda, our kitchen soup wizards, who keep the kettles stocked week after week and make sure no one goes hungry on Wednesdays; To Deb, Ester, Jackie, and now Barbara, who chop, stir, and dole out the soup and Mabel’s treasured secret-recipe rolls; To Linda Larrabee, for donating and making such beautiful flower arrangements for our Community Lunch tables; To Allyson, Jane, Mimi, Linda, Binkie, Barbara, and Sharon, for helping out and cleaning up after Community Lunch; To Jenny, Janna, Lisa, Erika, and Christy, for helping so much with the first Martha Hamilton Arts and Crafts Event—and thanks to all (especially Mike and Denise) who donated such terrific items; To Tim, of LnL Enterprises, for moving our water heater and installing our utility sink (making our commercial kitchen uptacode at long last); And to Kim, Mark, Leila, Suhail, Linda, Marianne, Meredith and Bo, Paul, Janna and Michael, Ruthie, BJ, and Karen and Jay, for their generous support of this season’s Community Lunch and Supper programs; I hope that you too will stop and thank these friends and neighbors for, well, just for giving back to our small town. Happy holidays! See you at the Hall! Second, a thousand thanks to our tireless volunteers: To Binkie, our salt angel;
