In 1989, the WCC sent two teams, Loyola Marymount University and Pepperdine University, to the NCAA Regionals. Other conference members include the University of Nevada-Reno, the University of San Diego, the University of San Francisco and St. Mary's College. Pepperdine has won or shared every conference title since 1974 - a span of nine straight wee crowns. The Waves won three before baseball was dropped as a con- ference sport after the 1976 season and continued to win titles when baseball was reinstated with a tourna- ment in 1984 and round-robin format in 1985. Baseball was originally established as a conference sport in 1968.
