Evergreen Charter School Welcomes the New Middle School

The mission of the Evergreen Charter School (ECS) is to nurture the intellectual, physical and social development of children, through a comprehensive program that promotes academic excellence and prepares its students for success in school and in life.

E vergreen’s vision is to design multiple pathways in which all students graduate prepared to excel in college, career and community leadership. For years, the Board of Trustees, Administrators, teachers and parents have wanted to create a middle school for our children. This past year, the New York State Board of Education, extended Evergreen’s Charter to include a middle school. Evergreen Charter School provides a rigorous academic experience for students as they prepare to move into high school and eventually college and careers. At Evergreen, we understand that the middle school is a particularly important time in general, as many students are beginning to consider possible career options. We are committed to implementing well-rounded educational experiences for students. We incorporate many STEAM elements (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) that offer students highly engaging, hands-on learning. This promotes strong problem solving and communication skills, which are needed in school and in all occupations. Our new middle school provides a college and career preparatory curriculum. One way we do so is through an online personalized learning platform (i-Ready) and weekly mentoring with a teacher to ensure that students develop the habits and skills required to be successful.

The ECS Middle School is located in leased space owned by Our Lady Loretto Church in Hempstead Street.
