SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD, RAYMAN LEGENDS The wee mushroom being has always been a bit of an unsung hero in Mario’s universe – although in ours, Toad was our Super Mario Kart champion. Finally the spotlight’s shining where it should, with Toad and friend Toadette getting a game all of their own. If you enjoyed Captain Toad’s interludes in Super Mario 3D World then you’ll have an idea as to what to expect here – much more of the same exploratory puzzling, but greatly expanded upon. You dig? Yes you do actually, which makes for interesting time’s as – perhaps due to schlepping that huge backpack around – Toad and friends can’t jump. They can, however, collect Power Stars and all manner of other shiny things, and bits and bobs to help in their questing for treasure. C’mon, get mushy! CAPTAIN TOAD: TREASURE TRACKER Though it’s cold and lonely in the deep dark night, we can see Beelzebub in one Saintly fight... OK, enough sabotaging Mr. Loaf’s seminal works, for the Saints are doing it better. Since we last saw them being all presidential and stuff in the White Crib, the boss has been nabbed by Satan. In true Saints style there’s only one recourse – going to Hell to the strains of well-worn FM classics. You squish into Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington’s flashy shoes and go down, down to take on the horny red bloke himself. It’s the familiar, hilarious gameplay that we’re used to, with added flying and new weaponry based, naturally, on the seven deadly sins. Of course, there’s also a huge musical number. We’re gonna go all the way tonight, tonight... SAINTS ROW: GAT OUT OF HELL It’s a zombie apocalypse! No, don’t tune out, for while we’re well used to such a set-up, Dying Light adds some humanity to proceedings. This open world FPS sees you based in a rather South American-styled city that’s been quarantined after the outbreak of a mystery illness. Rather than just coughing up all manner of icky green stuff, this one sees sick people turning into, well, you can guess the rest... Combining parkour elements with over 100 weapons (more if you get crafty) and questions of morality as you slice up those that you used to know, it’s also a game of two halves. Featuring a 24 hour cycle, the infected are quite docile during the day and ripe for the picking. But when night falls, they get frisky and the old hunter/hunted flip kicks in. DYING LIGHT Saints Row IV is back and about to invade your next-gen consoles thanks to Deep Silver’s decision to remaster the game for PS4 and Xbox One. Say hello to Saints Row IV: Re-elected. But it’s not just a polished version of the original game we’re talking about here – Re-elected will also feature Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell and the DLC ‘ The Devil’s Workshop ’ and ‘ Plague of Frogs ’. Said DLC will include more than 25 weapons, 15 new vehicles, over 60 wardrobe items, 15 new homies to call upon, and six new superpower elements. The Xbox One and PS4 adaptations will also feature a voice command system, and a handy weapon modding option that allows players to create and customise their very own weapons.
