Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome to our July Newsletter and as always, we would like to give a very warm welcome to all children, parents and new families who joined 22 Street Lane Nursery last month. The children have enjoyed some beautiful weather this past month and they were able to benefit from many days of wonderful sunshine. We held many outdoor classes and events in the nursery garden last month, such as the Father’s Day Tea Party and celebrating Pirates Week. There’s much more planned at 22 Street Lane over the summer months, with a Teddy’s Bears Picnic, the Swans Graduation and World Cup Week all to come in July!

I have always believed that every child from all walks of paths, truly deserve the best possible start in life, which is why caring and working with children and helping them develop to the best of their abilities has always been a great passion and priority of mine. The next training day will be held on Wednesday 24 th October, the nursery will be closed on this day. Please note we have alternated the days throughout the year, so it doesn’t consistently affect the same families.

Parents Evening Thank you to all the parents who attended our summer parents evening. It was lovely to share your child’s nursery journey and their progress and development. Please keep sharing your child’s progress and interest from home with your child’s key person to help us to plan in the nursery.

NEWS; July Newsletter Swans Graduation 2018

We will be holding our Swans Graduation on Friday 13th July at 3pm. We have many children going on holidays over the summer, so we thought it would be nice to hold it a little earlier so that children and families do not miss out. The graduation will be held for the children which will be leaving us to start school in September 2018. Please note that due to space, we will only be able to permit 2 adults per child.

Teddy Bears Picnic (Weather permitting) On Tuesday the 31 st of July we will be holding a ‘teddies bear picnic’ from 3.30-4.30pm. All children are welcome to bring their favourite teddy bear to nursery to join in. If your child does not usually come in on a Tuesday, they are more than welcome to come along with an adult accompanying them.

Please RSVP to Alex Thornton: alexandra@22streetlanenursery.co.uk

World Cup Week We most definitely have some football fans here at 22 Street Lane and have been showing a big interest in the World Cup! This has been a great opportunity for us to teach the children about different countries and sports. We will be holding a World Cup Week on 9 th - 13 th July and we are hoping that England make the final. Children are welcome to wear their football kits on Thursday 12 th July.

Garden Development As you may have noticed, the grass in the main garden has become very tired over the winter months and there is hardly any grass left. For practicality, we have decided to have Astro Turf laid to replace the grass. Unfortunately, this means the garden has been closed from the 9 th -13 th July. However, the playground will still be open, and we plan to take lots of trips to the park during the week.

Weather Please can you make sure that your child has sun cream labelled with their name, a sunhat and suitable outdoor clothing so that they can play outside. Can we politely ask parents to apply sun cream before arriving to the Nursery. Thank you

Ducklings Leila has been busy hiding treasure for the children to find both indoors and in the sand area. The children particularly liked hunting for the treasure in the big garden using the large spaces. Our Ducklings have continued to enjoy our beach theme and the mud kitchen. If parents have any spare old bags that they no longer use, then we would be most grateful for them as the Ducklings really enjoy filling and emptying at the moment.

Goslings The Goslings have been very busy gardening. We have been planting seeds and have been exploring flowers. We have also been really interested in mini-beasts, we have been on ‘mini beasts hunts’ in and around the gardens. The children really enjoyed being independent and using the magnifying glasses to identify and hunt for mini beasts! The Goslings managed to find a ladybird, a spider and a centipede. We also had a visit from two cats which we are hoping will come back and visit us again soon.

Cygnets The Cygnets have been enjoying various sensory walks in the garden. The children have had the opportunity to take off their shoes and socks and walk through different textures. The children walked on soil, shaving foam, sand, water and grass. The Cygnets described the textures such as soft, wet and cold, squelchy and smooth to describe how it felt. The Cygnets also had lots of fun washing the cars in the car park, they took their role extremely seriously ensuring Hayley’s car was sparkling. This activity was a great way to support the children gross motor skills.

Swans As many of our Flying Swans are leaving us to start school in September we are focusing on ‘School readiness’ to support the children in their transitions. We will be transforming the role play into school, discussing starting school at circle time and helping the children with their independence such as dressing. We have made a display board based on the schools that the children are going too, and we have also arranged for some of the children’s new teachers to come in and meet them.
