Central Coast Home & Lifestyle Summer 2025
G osford-based accounting firm Tax Stuff has once again teamed up with SoCares to champion animal welfare on the Central Coast. This time making an even bigger impact! For every tax return filed between July and August 2025, Tax Stuff pledged $20 to SoCares. Thanks to overwhelming client support, the initiative raised a remarkable $9,040.00, more than double last year’s donation. These funds will go directly towards food, shelter, and medical care for stray cats and dogs cared for by SoCares’ Charmhaven and Erina facilities. “This cause means the world to us,” said Brad Anthonisz, owner and director of Tax Stuff. “Last year we were thrilled to donate just over $4,000, but this year our community helped us more than double that figure. It’s proof that when locals come together, we can create real change in the community”. Brad’s passion for SoCares stems from personal $9,040 Donation to SoCares Animal Rescue from Tax Stuff
Leave dogs at home not in the car in summer D uring the summer months, this heartbreaking situation is all too common as dog owners often underestimate just how quickly temper atures can rise within a car and inadvertently put their pets in danger while running a “quick” errand. “Cars heat up very rapidly in hot — or even warm — weather,” the RSPCA said in a press release. “Air conditioning can disguise the danger that a dog will face once the engine is turned off.” Shade alone can't keep the heat out, and cracking a window isn't enough to cool down a car, even when it seems like a comfortable temperature outside. What’s more, dogs don’t sweat like humans do. “Unlike humans, dogs pant to help keep themselves cool,” the RSPCA said. “The effectiveness of panting is reduced at high temperatures and humidities.” Last summer the animal welfare charity received over 625 calls — about two calls an hour — regarding animals in hot environ ments, most of which were dogs left in cars and many times the animals do not survive. Heat can pose an even graver risk for senior and very young animals, dogs with heavy coats, dogs suffering from obesity or with underlying health issues, and flat-faced dogs. Please leave your dog at home in the shade where it is lovely and cool with lots of cool, fresh water to drink throughout summer.
experience. In 2022, he adopted Charlie, a playful Staffy x Ridgeback, from the Erina shelter. Charlie has since become both Brad’s best mate and the unofficial office mascot of Tax Stuff. Brad added “Supporting SoCares is my way of saying thank you, and encouraging others to adopt, foster, or donate. The team at SoCares does incredible work, and we’re proud to stand by them again this year”. SoCares (Society of Companion Animal Rescuers) is the only organization managing council-operated animal shelters on the Central Coast. Since 2014, they have been leading the way in pound reform and have successfully rehomed thousands of animals. This year’s campaign is part of Tax Stuff’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community, not only through quality accounting services but also through partnerships with local organisations like SoCares and The Entrance Hockey Club.
