Summary of conventional RT

• Conventional „low-dose“ radiotherapy with 1 x 8Gy is the guideline recommended treatment of choice for painful vertebral metastases • Nevertheless:

Ø Lack of any response in 1 / 3 of the patients Ø Incomplete pain reponse in 2 / 3 of the patients Ø Limited palliative effect after 3 – 6 months Ø Limited efficacy in mass-like metastases
