Factors influencing toxicity At the initiation of the study, patients were stratified as either low volume (CTV <250 cm3) or high volume ( CTV >250 cm3 ). The high-volume patients in the full thoracic cohort of the proton reirradiation protocol were subsequently deemed infeasible because of inability to complete the prescribed treatment course owing to toxicity .
